Welcome Change!
Wow! First day of my attachments was surprisingly interesting and passed relatively peacefully. I never knew that working in the community setting with individuals with stroke could be so enriching! Apparently, my supervisor told me that what we learnt in school was out-of-date and introduced us to the system the hospital was using. As a result, I had to re-learn everything and organise the information into something meaningful. It all sounded very logical and feasible initially. I was impressed that the hospital took the initiative to change things when even the acute and bigger hospitals are still "blindly" working their asses off and wondering what's wrong with the system. I thought to myself:"Why didn't any of us in school thought of this before?". Then, it dawned on me that we were looking too much into the details and forgetting about the big picture.
When was the last time YOU questioned what your lecturer said?
Apparently, most of us take for granted that what we are learning in school has enormous practical value. Well, I shouldn't say there is absolutely none but what we learn in school is only to build a foundation and we have to build upon that upon graduation and work. The truth is whatever we are learning will be history by the time we come out and work, irregardless of which field you are working in. Humans have such an incredible potential to create that you don't even know when things are going to change. As my supervisor told me,"Take everything with a pinch of salt." or if you don't know what it means, just question the "truth" of things around you. Sometimes, our minds tend to be clouded by the things happening around us and as humans, there is most often an element of bias, so the TRUTH may be present, but hidden from our view.
In essence, change is inherent in all things and therefore, let NATURE take its course and the TRUTH will be there for you to see if you open your eyes to it.
